My Review: Starring Eric Roberts and Lance Henrisksen, this horror movies is a very suspensful thriller. Adrian (Eric Roberts) and Jack (Lance Henriksen) meet when Jack picks up a hitch hiker. The two men are caught up in a co-dependent circle of deadly secrets. As they travel cross-country, neither one can seem to shed himself of the other. As the eventual confrontation mounts, the viewer is taken along for the ride as these two try to outrun the deadly secret of "The Hatchet Man". Roberts and Henriksen do a great job playing opposite one another in this suspensful horror flick. The lighting, pacing and color work are perfect in this movie. In the end, it's the ending that elevates this thriller above the blood soaked carpet of the genre.

Director: Kathryn Bigelow
Starring: Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein
Genre: Horror
Studio: F/M   Release date: 1987   Rated: R
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: A mid-western farm boy reluctantly becomes a member of the undead when a girl he meets turns out to be part of a band of southern vampires who roam the highways in stolen cars. Part of his initiation includes a bloody assault on a hick bar.
My Rating:
My Review: An excellent twist on the Vampire genre. Here is a great cast; Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein (all from the movie Aliens), Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, and others, in a movie co-written and directed by Kathryn Bigelow (Directed Point Break, Strange Days, The Hurt Locker). The story starts when Caleb (A naive midwestern farm boy) falls for the beautiful but fateful Mae (A seductive vampire). After Mae 'Nips' Caleb, he joins her vampire 'family' and the fun begins. Caleb is sucked into a world of dark mayhem and murder where he is forced to kill the innocent or die a hellish death. The movie places these vampires in a modern day setting, preying upon the witless, curious, luckless misfits of our society. The direction wasn't very good, but the supporting cast (Henriksen, Paxton, Goldstein) was excellent. The music helped and the editing was quite good. Well paced and well produced, this movie rates a 4 out of 5 in my book.

Director: Sidney Lumet
Starring: Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch, Robert Duvall, Wesley Addy
Genre: Drama
Studio: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)   Release date: 1976   Rated:
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: A TV network cynically exploits a deranged ex-TV anchor's ravings and revelations about the media for their own profit.
My Rating:
My Review: What can I say about a movie that won TEN Academy Awards?! Writen by Paddy Chayefsky, Directed by Sidney Lumet (The Morning After, Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico), starring William Holden, Faye Dunaway, Peter Finch, Robert Duvall, Wesley Addy, Ned Beatty and many others. Released in 1976, this movie is a satirical, dramatic classic. An outstanding cast and original story lift this movie up so high that watching it becomes an experience that one can't forget. Believable, current, and gripping, the characters and story are just as fresh and current today as they were in '76. Peter Finch plays a network anchor who's fed-up with all the bull-shit. One of my favorite movie lines: "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!". When aging anchor, Howard Beale, is sacked by the executives of UBS, he loses his cool and announces his impending suicide on national television - Tune in next tuesday! That ought to get the ratings up there. When Howard has a psychiatric episode, the Network decides to exploit the episode by giving the audience what they want. A somewhat comedic, cynical, satire, full of sensational truth. Beale is the mad prophet of the air-waves, articulating the rage of the common man. When Beale reveals a bit too much of the 'truth', the network executives are forced to take matters into their own hands. 5 out of 5.

However, the situation takes a turn for the worse when Amelia vanishes and it becomes apparent that March wasn't the only party interested. As both men are forced to team up, they'll have to take on a world filled with eccentric goons, strippers dressed as mermaids and even a possible government conspiracy.
My Rating:
My Review: I've seen this at least two times previously. What a gem. Writing (in part) and direction by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3). This detective noir thriller is set in a decadent Los Angeles of 1977/1978. Russel Crowe and Ryan Gosling star (alongside other outstanding cast members) as an unlikely pair of heroes. A functional alcoholic private investigator, and a morally questionable strong arm for hire team up to find a missing girl. They're not sure why they're doing it, but the money is a good start. The acting and direction were outstanding. I'm glad I bought a copy

Director: John Fortenberry
Starring: Chris Kattan, Will Ferrell, Raquel Gardner, Molly Shannon, Dan Hedaya
Genre: Comedy
Studio: Broadway Pictures   Release date: 1998   Rated: PG-13
Language (Country): English, French (USA)
Summary: The Roxbury Guys, Steve and Doug Butabi, want to get into the best club in town, and also hope to open their own club. Vivica, a gold-digging supermodel, and her friend Cambi try to work the Roxbury Guys for their money, only to find out the pair is broke.
My Rating:
My Review: Starring Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Dan Hedaya and Richard Grieco, this ridiculous Saturday Night Live production was far funnier than it should be. Poor production, direction and acting mark this movie as something destined to flop, and it did - at the box office. I however, couldn't help but laugh at this comic gem. Despite the ridiculous plot, poor dialog, and universally bad acting, I found myself entertained and laughing througout the movie. The reason? Will Ferrel, Chris Kattan and Molly Shannon. Perhaps they didn't realize what a flop they'd been burdened with. Thankfully, they were fully committed to the insane, inane, and preposterous characters they played. It was the level of comittment - sticking to the lame jokes, and ridiculous dialog - that made this hollywood garbage something worth watching. The story is an entirely predictable vehicle for cheesy characters and stock shlock laughs. Thanks to the Ferrel, Kattan and Shannon, it rises above the cutting room floor as a lesson in dedication to the art form. Becoming funning in spit of it's incredibly burdoned handicaps - Thank you for the laughs.
