Director: Peter Jackson
Starring: Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin
Genre: Fantasy
Studio: New Line Cinema   Release date: 2002   Rated: PG-13
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: Frodo and Sam continue on to Mordor in their mission to destroy the One Ring. Whilst their former companions make new allies and launch an assault on Isengard.
My Rating:
My Review: The end of the trilogy. Everything has a beginning and an end. This movie was about death and endings. Excellent acting. Hugo Weaving steals the show as Agent Smith. Once again the movie feels rushed. The 2nd and 3rd movies feel rushed when compared to the first movie. This movie feels much more like the 2nd movie than the first. The action was spectacular, but it was too much. Too much action, too much dialog. I liked the dialog. It explained a lot about the relationships between man and the machine. The Oracle, the Architect, the Frenchman, the Trainmaster, etc. The only flaw in this movie; the pacing. Excellent all around.

Director: Joel Schumacher
Starring: Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, Barnard Hughes, Edward Herrmann
Genre: Comedy
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures   Release date: 1987   Rated: R
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: After moving to a new town, two brothers are convinced that the area is frequented by vampires.
My Rating:
My Review: A classic 80s film starring Corey Haim, Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Dianne West and others. A woman and her two sons have moved to a small coastal California town in order to live with her eccentric father. Starting over in Santa Carla won't be easy, but she manages to find a job, and the boys seem to be making friends. Unfortunately, she's picked the wrong town. The biker gang is more than a nuisance, they're all a bunch of Vampires, and the older brother Michael has fallen for the wrong girl. Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were awesome as teenage vampire hunters. The 80s had a hard time getting the formula right, but this movie was one of those comedic horror movies with just the right mix of thrills, horror and comedy. The direction and pacing were excellent, even if the acting was less than memorable and the writing a bit cheesy. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Director: Sofia Coppola
Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Akiko Takeshita, Kazuyoshi Minamimagoe, Kazuko Shibata
Genre: Drama
Studio: Focus Features   Release date: 2003   Rated: R
Language (Country): English, French (USA)
Summary: A movie star with a sense of emptiness, and a neglected newlywed meet up as strangers in Tokyo and form an unlikely bond.
My Rating:
My Review: Marvelous. Truly splendid. A bitter-sweet drama of unrequented love. What could have been but never was. More meaningful than the typical illicit love story. Two Americans are stuck in Tokyo. Bill Murray and a new comer? Scarlett Johansson. Her acting was dreamy. Well cast, appropriately paced, excellent directing (Sophia Coppola won an Academy award for this movie). Scarlett makes this movie work. Packed with desire, and dripping with chemistry. Bill Murray's character does the right thing by Scarlett's character, even if he's not a saint. I'll watch this one many times. I'm tempted to give it a 7, but it's just not my favorite genre. 6 out of 7.

Collection ID 546
Director: Larry Blamire
Starring: Fay Masterson, Andrew Parks, Susan McConnell, Brian Howe, Jennifer Blaire
Genre: Comedy
Studio: Fragmighty   Release date: 2001   Rated: PG
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: A dedicated scientist, aided by his clueless wife, rolls up his shirt sleeves and tries to save the world from a radioactive monster, curious space aliens, an evil scientist and a crabby skeleton in this send-up of the best of the B movies of the 1950's.
My Rating:
My Review: A spoof on 1950's sci-fi movies. This little gem had me rolling on the floor. It was incredibly funny. The lines! Oh my god. Whoever wrote this knew what they were doing. The cast were complete unknowns, but that was a good thing. The set and locations were perfect. The film style was also well done. A scientist and his 'scientists wife' are investigating a meteorite. An evil-scientist is trying to revive the lost skeleton of Cadavra, and a pair of stranded aliens must refuel their space-ship and recover their mutant. Put all these characters together for dinner and watch what happens! It wasn't just a funny movie, it was also a well crafted parody/homage. Incorporating time tested B (for Bad) movie film techniques, and directing style, this one was well worth the watching. Days later I find myself describing the movie to friends, and falling over with laughter at the comic genius of this movie.

Collection ID 832
Director: Larry Blamire
Starring: H.M. Wynant, Frank Dietz, Christine Romeo, Fay Masterson
Genre: Comedy
Studio: Shout! Factory   Release date: 2009   Rated:
Language (Country): English ()
Summary: Jerranium 90. A little rock that made all the papers. Only what didn not make the papers is that the main source of this newly discovered element is buried deep within the Amazon. And everybody wants it, including crooked importer Handscomb Draile, slimy Gondreau Slykes, cheap crook Carl Traeger and evil scientist Dr. Ellamy Royne. So when Reet Pappin is sent on a mission, vital to national security, to find Dr. Paul Armstrong, now a bitter alcoholic disenchanted with science, he may have his work cut out for him! Especially when joined by Armstrongs loyal wife Betty and the mind control susceptible twin brother of Dr. Roger Fleming, who is carrying a familiar sinister skull belonging to none other than the Lost Skeleton of Cadavra himself!

As the parties converge in the dreaded Valley of the Monsters, other familiar faces begin to pop up, as well as a variety of monsters and an ancient race known as the Cantaloupe People, led by their haughty queen, Chinfa. Who will get what they want? And who will not get it?

Larry Blamire brings his own hysterical brand of adventure to life in this sequel to the mega cult hit The Lost Skeleton Of Cadavra! The Lost Skeleton Returns Again is a perfect tongue-in-cheek celebration of the adventure/horror serials of yesteryear presented in the majesty of Super Skeletorama!

Bonus Features:

* Cast And Crew Audio Commentary

* A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The Lost Skeleton Returns Again

My Rating:
My Review: Written and directed by Larry Blamire (also wrote/directed the Lost Skeleton of Cadavra - My favorite comedy). Starring a cast of regulars (in Larry Blamire films); stage and film actors who appreciate the tongue in cheek, yet serious, style of Larry Blamire. Here we have a sequel (primarily in black and white) to the outrageously funny 'Lost Skeleton of Cadavra'. A spoof on the 'Lost World' jungle epics of the 30s-50s. This sequel brings back all the original characters and actors (plus a few new ones). Two groups of adventurers and scientists head south, to South America, to the deep, secretive recesses of the Amazon. There they seek the rare Jerranium 90, and encounter the enigmatic Cantaloupe People. Parody and satire of the highest order. The acting is somewhat amateur, but the effort is 100%. The comedy is shocking! Tongue in cheek, preposterous, smart, silly, gut busting, funny. 4 of 5.
