He then talks to someone named Goodwin, who tells him he has to go back and find out who the bomber is. He is sent back to go through the whole thing again and attempts to find who the bomber is but fails. The bomb goes off and Stevens finds himself in the pod again. He is sent back another time, yet still cannot find out anything. When he returns, he asks what is going on. Goodwin and Rutledge, the scientist in charge, tell him that he is part of a project that can put someone in another person's consciousness during the last 8 minutes of their life. Stevens then asks why he cannot just stop the bomb. He is told that he is not going back in time but placed in the moment so he can find out who the bomber is and if ...

My Review: Source Code - 2011 (Mystery, sci-fi, thriller) Kim and I had a 'Date Night' the other day. Twice in as many weeks, you'd think we were trying to set a record or something. One movie was on both our lists, so the choice wasn't all that difficult. This movie featured an excellent cast (Jake Gyllenhaal and Vera Farmiga) and a story line that was right up my alley. The story is quite unique. Colter Steven (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) is a member of the military, part of a super secret team fighting terrorists. This team combats terrorism using a rather interesting weapon - Time Travel. Colter has been recruited to work on this super secret team, and he's doing his best to find the man responsible for the slaughter of hundreds of people packed into a commuter train as it makes its way across the american countryside. If Jake and the team can't stop this terrorist, his next target will be far more dangerous, devastating, and 'dirty'. Can time travel change the present? Or will Captain Colter be doomed to repeat this 'no-win' scenario for all eternity? An awesome mind-bending plot with parallel dimensions and time travel plastered all over it. A sci-fi, mystery with excellent writing, editing, direction and technical detail. I loved it so much I bought a copy. 5 out of 5.

Director: Trey Parker
Starring: Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Mary Kay Bergman, Isaac Hayes, Jesse Howell
Genre: Animation, Comedy, Musical
Studio: Comedy Central Films   Release date: 1999   Rated: R
Language (Country): English Dolby Digital 5.1, English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, French Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround (USA)
Summary: When four boys in South Park Stan Marsh, Kyle and his stepbrother Ike Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick sees an R-rated movie featuring Canadians "Terrance & Phillip: Asses of Fire", they are pronounced "corrupted", and Kyle's mom Sheila with the rest of the parents pressure the United States to wage war against Canada for World War 3! It's all up to Stan, Kyle and Cartman to save Terrence and Phillip before Satan and his lover Saddam Hussein from Hell rules the world and it'll be the end of the whole world.
My Rating:
My Review: Brought to you by the pair responsible for the South Park animated television show (Trey Parker and Matt Stone). Featuring old school animation, potty mouthed dialogue, and some really awesome songs, this movie is definitely not a 'cartoon for the kids' - Unless of course your kids are the kind that get off on crude adult humor, satire and socially relevant topics. The plot is very loose. With two themes run through the movie, it felt as if Trey and Matt didn't really know what they wanted to say. One theme features the corruption of our 'youth' (the South Park kids) by the potty mouthed Canadian comedic duo of 'Terrance and Phillip'. The other theme is a love-hate relationship between Satan and Saddam Hussein. Tying the two together - Cartman, Stan, and Kyle must prevent the death of Terrance and Phillip, in order to prevent Satan and Saddam from ruling the world. The pacing was a bit too fast, and the dialogue a bit difficult to follow (at times). If you can see past the potty mouthed lyrics, you'll see a story full of socially relevant topics. The 'song and dance' musical numbers were outstanding. This movie was a gift from a friend at work. It's not my favorite movie by this dynamic duo (Trey Parker and Matt Stone), but I like it well enough to watch it again. 3 out of 5.

Thorn comes to the fancy apartment and meets Simonson's bodyguard Tab Fielding and the "furniture" (woman that is rented together with the flat) Shirl and the detective concludes that the executive was not victim of burglary but executed. Further, he finds that the Governor Santini and other powerful men want to disrupt and end Thorn's investigation. But Thorn continues his work and discovers a bizarre and disturbing secret of the ingredient used to manufacture Soylent Green.
My Rating:
My Review: This movie came out in 1973, and it stars Charlton Heston. He does a good job of acting, but its not the greatest movie. The movie is set in the distant future; 2022! The world is overpopulated, and the overpopulation is the root of all evil in this movie. The premise is chilling, but the movie lags at times. It was narrow in scope, and I kept thinking about the tag-line. This one gets a 4 for its vision and directing.

Set in the innocent black-and-white world of 1930's serial adventure stories like Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers, Space Captain: Captain of Space is a modern, smart sci-fi comedy.

My Review: Wow - Very funny movie. An independent production that hit's all cylinders as a worthy successor to the outrageously funny 'Lost Skeleton of Cadavra'. This movie is based upon a play (of same name) which ran successfully (for several weeks) at the Kraine Theater in NYC (in 2012), now it's a movie, available exclusively on Amazon Prime. What a blast! The multimedia/graphics are great, the acting (by a relatively unknown (to feature length movies)) was appropriately over the top, and the plot lively. The Evil King Xayno of the Planet Argor is using his Gravity-Ray to crash the moon into the Earth! What can our heroes do to stop this diabolical plot? Tune in to find out. I loved it so much I bought a digital copy of my own (my second Amazon digital purchase) for $3.99 (HD version, with a $2.00 instant discount).

Director: Mel Brooks

Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi
Studio: Brooksfilms   Release date: 1987   Rated: PG
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: After squandering the fresh air in the distant planet Spaceball, the good-for-nothing President Skroob orders the arch-villain henchman, Dark Helmet, to abduct the adjacent planet Druidia's Princess Vespa to strong-arm her father, King Roland, to provide them with the code to the planet's atmosphere. Under those circumstances, the seasoned mercenary, Lone Starr, and his trusty half-human, half canine sidekick, Barf, will attempt to save the princess in distress, while at the same time, the ruthless loan shark, Pizza the Hut is after them. But in the end, only he who can harness the mystical and mighty force known only as "The Schwartz", will be able to save the day.
My Rating:
My Review: Mel Brooks does it again. This spoof on the Star Wars trilogy is a very funny movie. The writing is witty, tight, and laughable. The characters are stereotyped, comic and paper-thin. The acting was fair (Rick Moranis was great in his role as Dark Helmet), and the music was great. The dialog is the shining star of this movie. The low-budget special effects are part of the gag, and a the laughs take center stage in this preposterous spoof. Planet Spaceball's President Skroob sends Dark Helmet to steal Planet Druidia's air to replenish their wasted supply. Only Lone Starr and his sidekick Barf can stop them. Add in a little romance angle with the Druish princess Vespa, and you've got a formula for lots of laughs. Very, very, very, very, very funny. 4 out of 5.

Collection ID 605
Director: Damjan Kozole
Starring: Peter Musevski, Aljosa Kovacic, Primoz Petkovsek, Valter Dragan, Aleksandra Balmazovic
Genre: Drama
Studio: E-motion Film   Release date: 2003   Rated: Not Rated
Language (Country): Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian, English (Slovenia)
Summary: Embittered widower, Ludvik, spends his nights transporting illegal refugees in his van from Croatia, across Slovenia, and into Italy. The young and inexperienced Rudi acts as his helpmate. Together they become a well-trained duo who almost every night convey "spare parts" to Italy. Of course the story of their illegitimate exports into Europe ends tragically, for everyone. The whole idea of this account is that everyone - including ourselves - is looking for happiness: the "spare parts" because of the misery they are plunged into without, and our characters because they can't find it inside.
My Rating:
My Review: (Slovenia - Rezervni deli) My fourth movie from Filmmovement.com. Another character based drama. The movie is about two smugglers. They smuggle illegal imigrants across the border from Croatia to Italy. It's a cold harsh look at life in Slovenia. Industrial pollution, the dark side of romance, abuse of power, life in the gutter of society. The characters are struggling to remain human, to be loved and to stay above the high tide line in their cesspool of existence. Some manage, some don't. Some surrender, some become numb. It was very well acted and directed. I was caught up in their petty lives, hoping they'd do what was right, hoping they'd find a life line. The bad guys in this movie were the good guys. We really felt bad for them despite the fact that they were responsible for some pretty despicable things. I give it a 4 out of 5.
