Director: Tim Hunter
Starring: Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves, Ione Skye, Daniel Roebuck, Dennis Hopper
Genre: Crime
Studio: Hemdale   Release date: 1986   Rated: R
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: A high school slacker kills his girlfriend and shows off her dead body to their friends. However, the friends' reaction is almost as ambiguous and perplexing as the crime itself.
My Rating:
My Review: A teen drama with a very serious story. Starring Daniel Roebuck, Crispin Glover, Dennis Hopper, Keanu Reeves and many others. In this movie; based on a true story; a high-school dropout/loner kills his girlfriend and tells his friends what he did. When they don't believe him, he takes them to see the body. A shocking movie that exams the emotions, motives and reactions of the characters in this brutal social drama. The characters are drawn from the ordinary kids of Middle-America. They aren't the jocks, the popular kids or the straight A's of your ordinary midwest town. They're the ones that no one notices, the kids who don't stand out, who don't volunteer, the ones who never make the Dean's list. Excellent writing, direction and acting. The acting by Crispin Glover was easily the best, but the whole cast exuded a particular energy and chemistry. The editing and camera work were also top notch. The sideways humor in this movie creates a bitter and black tone that fits perfectly with the socially detached and maladjusted characters of the movie. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Genre: Crime
Studio: DreamWorks   Release date: 2002   Rated: R
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: Bonds of loyalty are put to the test when a hitman's son witnesses what his father does for a living.
My Rating:
My Review: A classic gangster movie. Tom Hanks cranks out a terrific performance. Sam Mendes did a bang-up job directing this all star cast which included: Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Jude Law and Jennifer Jason Leigh. A hit man for the mob is on the run after the son of a mob boss marks him and his family for death. Technically flawless, this masterpiece is quite an accomplishment. Dark and dramatic, the story is tightly wound and perfectly paced. The tension and drama uncoil in classic mobster style.

Director: Todd Phillips
Starring: Breckin Meyer, Seann William Scott, Amy Smart, Paulo Costanzo, DJ Qualls
Genre: Comedy
Studio: DreamWorks   Release date: 2000   Rated: R
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: Four friends (Meyer, Qualls, Scott, Costanzo) take off on an 1800 mile road trip to retrieve an illicit tape mistakenly mailed to a girl friend.
My Rating:
My Review: Classic road trip comedy. Written (in part) and directed by Todd Phillips (Old School, The Hangover (I, II, III)). Starring Breckin Meyer, Seann William Scott, Amy Smart, Tom Green and others. The plot - Josh & Tiffany have been together since they were in grade school. They're together now - Sort of; it's one of those long distance college things. Yeah they kind where the boyfriend has a one night stand with some hot new college coed. Unfortunately, the video that was supposed to be his 'video chat' was actually a 'Sex tape'. Wait a second, oh my god! Did I just mail the wrong tape to Tiffany!? I'm dead! Unless - Unless we can get to her dorm before the tape arrives in the mail. Road Trip! Josh recruits some of his best friends to accompany him on his quest. They must get to Austin (From Ithaca, NY) before the tape gets there. With that simple plot, some great casting and a hilarious script we end up with a classic comedy. Some of the lines and situations are extremely hillarious. The narrative style and Tom Green narration in character was fantastic and fresh. So funny I bought a copy and I've seen it multiple times. I give it a 5 out of 5.

My Review: This movie was pretty good. It was a winner at the Mosocw International Film Festival, and it hasn't been released to general audiences yet. A character based drama, a father son story. The camera work was good, the locations were great, the characters and acting were truly authentic. The story was moving, and the ending splendid. Father and son set out from Moscow. They're walking to the father's sister's house in the Crimea. The journey is the story.
